Tamil Nadu government to extend lockdown in the state

Based on Tamil media reports, MK Stalin will extend lockdown in Tamil Nadu. As there is a daily rise in covid cases, Tamil Nadu medical experts suggested the state government extend lockdown for two more weeks.

In the last 24 hours, 36,184 new covid cases have been registered and 24, 478 were discharged. 467 death cases were registered in the past 24 hours which was the highest. As per medical experts, extending lockdown will only help in break this transmission chain.

When compared to the past few weeks, Covid cases have been declining. Earlier, daily cases were registered at more than 50K and later it came down to 40K. In the past week, 5,913 cases were down and daily cases were registered less than 40K.

CM MK Stalin will make an announcement regarding this after today’s All-Party meeting.

Karnataka also extended the lockdown till 7th June.
