The post-poll violence in West Bengal has consumed 11 lives since Sunday evening, national media reports are saying. The attacks on political workers of BJP and CPM started soon after the TMC won a massive mandate.
As per several reports, ruling party’s armed thugs have attacked the homes of BJP’s volunteers in several villages.
On Monday night, BJP candidate Swapan Dasgupta said that the situation in Birbhum’s Nanoor is alarming, where more than a thousand Hindu families were out in the fields to escape marauding mobs seeking to take it out against BJP supporters. “Reports of molestation or worse of women,” he added.
Scientist and political commentator Anand Ranganathan today said that Prof Gobardhan Das, a BJP leader, is trapped inside his home with his family and elders. “They are hurling countrymade bombs at his home,” he tweeted.
