‘Thalaivii’ has been declared a box office failure by trade pundits. However, producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri has disagreed with the talk.
In his interview, Induri said that the film has recovered its investments. “Our movie is not playing in multiplexes across North India. Multiplexes have a higher ticket cost. Single screens have lower costs. In Mumbai, each ticket at a multiplex screen costs up to Rs 500. We have lost out on these revenues because three national multiplexes have refused to screen our movie. But the number of people who have watched the movie since its release on September 10 suggests that ‘Thalaivii’ is a hit,” Induri said.
He suggested that the Jayalalithaa biopic may not have made huge monies exceeding its costs but the recovery of the investment has been satisfactory.
