The Central government takes a key decision on Remdesivir shortage

As corona cases have been increasing day by day, the demand for the anti-viral drug Remdesivir has been increased. The Remdesivir has become vital in the treatment of corona. The Center has taken a key decision to avoid this shortage and decided to import this drug heavily from abroad.

4.5 lakh doses of Remdesivir are being imported from various companies across the world. The first batch of 75,000 Remdesivir vials will be imported today on Friday.  The Indian government will buy from domestic HLL Lifecare Ltd,  US-based Gilead Sciences and Egyptian Eva Pharma. It will also increase its production domestically. Already seven domestic companies have increased their production from 38 lakh vials per month to 1.03 crore vials.
