The Supreme Court has given a huge blow to the banks. The apex court has refused to withdraw its 2015 judgment that the RBI was required to disclose details of bank inspections and their annual reports, including a list of banks’ debt defaulters under the Right to Information Act.
In this case, several financial institutions and banks have filed petitions in the past seeking reversal of the judgment. The tribunal has said no such provision in the rules of the Supreme Court. In this case, it allows for the use of other options.
