The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government is likely to extend the current lockdown till 5th June as the Covid intensification continues. The government has succeeded in reducing the spread of corona to some extent in the state by imposing a complete lockdown from May 5. However, many experts opined that it would be better to extend the shutdown in order to control the severity of the Covid.
“Lockdown alone can significantly reduce Kovid cases. It would be better to extend the lockdown for another month, ”said Dr Bimal Karak, Former president of the Bihar unit of the Indian Medical Association. Former Superintendent of Patna Medical College and Hospital, Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad expressed a similar opinion.
He said the lockdown currently underway should be extended for a while to break the corona chain. The death toll has risen to 4,500, with 100 new corona deaths in the state in the last 24 hours. With 4,002 new covid cases being registered, the total number of cases has reached 6.89 lakh. In Bihar, over one lakh corona active cases were first reported, but in the last few weeks it has come down to 40,692. The recovery was 93.44 percent.
