Toolkit expose: Will government seek info from Google?

A day after the BJP alleged that the Congress party’s research department had created a toolkit to defame India’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic, several questions remain. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has claimed that the toolkit is fake. AICC’s research department has filed FIRs against JP Nadda and Sambit Patra.

So far, the BJP has only spoken out against the toolkit on social media and a few TV debates. Large sections of the mainstream media have blacked out the so-called expose.

The question is, what will BJP now do? Its party president is facing an FIR. The BJP can now launch a criminal investigation into the toolkit and expose the culprits if there indeed was a conspiracy to create artificial shortage of beds, etc.

For starters, the government can seek information from Google as to who had first created the Google Drive where the toolkit was first shared in detail. Once the source is known, investigation will take pace.
