Twitter withdraws Venkaiah Naidu’s Twitter blue badge

In an unexpected turn, Twitter has removed the blue badge of Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu’s personal verified account. The news was almost confirmed officially on Saturday morning, hours after the badge was gone.

At the time of writing, Twitter didn’t give a reason for removing the badge. It has to be seen whether it was caused by a bug or it was an arbitrary decision.
Besides, three prominent RSS senior functionaries have lost their blue badge status. This has come to be seen as a decision with a particular pattern.

In other news, Facebook has decided to de-platform Donald Trump for two years. Several Netizens are of the view that Big Tech is behaving like the East India Company with its own discretionary rules.
Sovereign countries like India have to frame rules to discipline Twitter and Facebook before it is too late.
