During a speech at a hall in Mahad city in Raigad on Monday, Union Minister Narayan Rane said it was shameful that Maharashtra CM didn’t know how many years of Independence that India was celebrating. It was disgusting that Mr Uddhav Thackeray enquired about the count of years of Indian Independence. I would have slapped him If I was there, said Mr Rane.
Over this comment, furious Shivsena workers lodged a complaint against the Union Minister. Today, he is detained in Ratnagiri and will be taken to Nashik city. Mr Rane who supported his comments against Maharashtra CM has moved to Bombay High court to quash all FIRs that have been registered against him.
Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that they won’t support the remark made by the Union Minister but as an individual and party stand that they would stand with him.
BJP National President called the arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane was unconstitutional.
As quoted by Nagendar Sharma, “If arrested, Narayan Rane will be the first union cabinet minister in 20 years to be behind the bars of a state police after Murasoli Maran & TR Baalu were dramatically picked up at midnight by Chennai Police in June 2001”.
