Mumbai-based Web Werks is preparing to set up data centers in the southern states. The data centers will be set up in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore with an investment of Rs 1,450 crore. Initially, it plans to set up the plant with a capacity of 20 MW in Chennai. After that, 10 MW capacity centers will be set up in Hyderabad and Bangalore. These centers will be operational by 2023.
However, Web Werks has already entered into agreements with the Governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka regarding the setting up of data centers. Currently, it is operating a 4 MW data center in Mumbai, 3 MW in Pune and 1 MW in Noida.
In February this year, it formed a Rs 1,086 crore ($15 crore) joint venture with US-based Iron Mountain. Through this joint-venture, the company is expanding its operations into a new market with existing markets.
