Yogi Adityanath comments on controversial issue

With several dead bodies spotted floating in the Ganga River in April and May, it has been alleged that Uttar Pradesh has been under-counting Covid-19 deaths. In his latest interview, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has opened up on the issue.

Speaking to Economic Times, the BJP leader said that such visuals were seen in 2014, 2015 and 2016, too, when there was no pandemic. He linked the practice of throwing dead bodies into rivers to customs and traditions built around our rivers.

A day after easing the lockdown in UP, the CM said that the State is opening up vaccination for 18-44 age category in all 75 districts from June 1.

In the interview, Yogi also said that the BJP’s abysmal performance in the recent Panchayat elections doesn’t reflect the public mood about his government.
