In a bid to encourage people to help in population control, the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government is expected to unveil its first draft of the Uttar Pradesh population(Control,stabilization and Welfare)Act,2021 on World Population Day.
Under this new bill, couples with more than two children are to be denied government benefits. Anyone having more than two children will neither get government jobs nor be promoted who were already doing government jobs.
And also not eligible to contest in any local body elections.
The State Law Commission has invited the public to respond and give their valuable suggestions over this new bill within 10 days by 19th July.
And it also listed the incentives in this new bill for those who adopt the two-child policy. They(Public servants) will procure two additional increments during the entire service, maternity or paternity leave of 12 months with full salary and allowances.
And there is a three per cent increase in the employer’s contribution fund under the national pension scheme. To implement this bill properly, the government is constituting a state population fund. The draft says that the state has limited economic and ecological resources. For sustainable development with more equitable distribution, it is necessary to control and stabilise the population.
